What better to do after world domination, than return to your hometown and play a free, all-ages show?
Crystal Castles' appearance at Harbourfront was, among other things, incredibly perplexing. Their live performances have gained notoriety for their frequent degeneration into riots and violence; why would the organizers of a wholesome night of family entertainment be in search of screaming, destructive synth pop?
If nothing else, they can at least claim record attendance levels. A full hour before the show, the area around the stage was packed by an impenetrable mass of people - from the stagefront, all the way to the water's edge. Passage through or around was nearly impossible.
When the lauded duo finally took the stage (rather late), it quickly became evident that the back half of the crowd was neither going to see nor hear the act. Arguments erupted as mean-spirited citizens tried to push their way through. People were nearly squeezed into the water. You got this one all wrong, Harbourfront. Very wrong.
