Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew
Kool Haus
December 7, 2007

The headline for this performance is somewhat inaccurate. This was no more a Kevin Drew show than it was a Brendan Canning or an Evan Cranley show.

Both the band and the crowd were wise to the fact that everyone had gathered to see the entire Broken Social Scene in action - and the troupe were happy to march out all of their favourites - with a spattering of Drew's Spirit If... here and there along the way. It's not that Drew's debut solo effort lacks lustre; even the band have come to the realization that everyone at their concerts is expecting a greatest hits show. It seems as though that's what the members themselves are looking forward to.

With more "BSS Presents" albums due in the near future, we're likely to see many more of these shows. People will and should keep flocking to them, regardless of the name in the headline, for a chance to see the largest number of local legends ever assembled on one stage.
